New…almost: E-Stories
Today is the first anniversary of the daily brief- “Buonasera Mag”. My intention was to bring some extra info to the EuroFile spaces I do with Scott on Twitter, but then it got out of hand! I kept reading content that I thought would be interesting to read and to keep for posterity. We’re living history right now.
Confession: I’ve never really liked the name “Buonasera Mag”. It doesn’t sound right to me. When I started, I wanted to get it out quickly, so I chose the first thing that came to mind. I’m changing the title of the daily round up to “E-Stories”. If you see it in your inbox, don’t delete it…it’s me! Hi!
E-Stories will continue to feature news and analysis about Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine, and other stories that touch us here in Europe and the United States. I know it’s heavy on the war but it is THE most consequential event of our life time, especially for our Ukrainian friends and allies. They are facing the Russian forces directly, putting their lives and livelihoods at risk every day.
Along with E-Stories, Scott and I will be doing our spaces when we can swing them. We’re currently talking about changing platforms from Twitter spaces to something else. I haven’t been able to download the last few recordings from Twitter Spaces, which is quite annoying. I’d like those discussions to be here for everyone so you can listen at your leisure. More to come on what emerges.
I’m sending my heartfelt thanks to everyone who subscribes to EuroFile! To the paid subscribers, un abbraccio forte! Know that you’re helping me with some my expenses. I know you could direct your support to other publications, especially now as there are so many new authors on Substack. Grazie!
There are others behind the scenes at EuroFile that I thank with all my heart:
A shout out to my husband who I keep waiting all the time! The sugo burns or the poor man is rummaging through the C pile at the bottom of his underwear drawer (too much info?). As much as I try, my efforts at achieving work-family balance are completely derailed most of the time. He understands, and that means the world to me.
And to my mentors—Olga L, Nathalie, Scott, Claire, Alexander, Heidi, Madi, Ruth, Jacopo—you’re the best. My warm warm thanks for helping me navigate areas that were and are opaque to me, for constantly showing support, and putting up with the barrage of questions I put your way.
Finally, I know it sounds unrealistic, but let’s cross fingers that some time this year you’ll be reading this headline on E-Stories: Ukraine liberated! I’m hoping for a lot more: Putin at the Hague, reparations to be paid by Russia, Ukrainian families reunited! But let’s start with the first.
