Happy Holidays…
My first thoughts this morning as I got up were for my family and friends that I won’t be able to see this year. I looked out the window onto the most beautiful land in Tuscany, and wished they could all be here to enjoy it.
I’ll call them later in the day: it’s always a great call. My first, though, will be to by sister whose laugh is contagious, and her effervescent verve never fails to uplift spirits.
I have one of those huge Italian families that meets up for all occasions, lots of food, chatter and shared memories. We still remember the historic roasted potatoes of 1985 (I’m not joking here). The phone gets passed from family member to family member, and we catch up on the latest news. My parents and aunts and uncles are getting on in life, and I’m always eager to find out how they’re doing.
My thoughts are also going to my friends in Ukraine, who I will message and share a moment of levity and laughter. I’ll check in with Olga and Scott, and a team member who is waiting for the arrival of their baby. It’s a day for reaching out.
We’ll be catching up here on EuroFile after December 26. My warmest thoughts and cheer to you all from my family to yours.
Happy Holidays
