Going back to February 22…

This recording takes us back to February 22 when Olga and I decided to hop on and give our comments about what was happening in Ukraine and Russia, and what was about to explode.

We had orginially decided that for Season 2 of Kremlin File, we would move away from Europe and dedicate future pod espisodes entirely to tracing Russian economic, political and information warfare in the United States. Russia’s war of aggression in Ukraine changed everything.

We had been monitoring the movements on the ground in Ukraine closely, like everyone, for months and months.

We recorded this episode right after Putin’s infamous security council meeting on February 22nd. If you will recall, it was at that meeting when Putin ‘decided’ to recognise the so-called republics of Donetsk and Luhansk. For us, there was no turning back for Putin. This was tantamount to Putin’s declaration of war.

I’ll leave this hear if you’re at all interested in listening and for future reference. It’s important to document events and comments as the war develops.

“It has started” is how my partner woke me up at 5:30 a.m. on Feb. 24. We called our friends & family, while our cat was racing. To sounds of explosions, we took her and our bug-out bags to the subway shelter. I felt anxiety but also deepest love and care for my people.
