Have they completely lost their fear?
By Ivan Egorov, Rossiyskaya Gazeta, March 27, 2023
On the eve of the second "summit for democracy" organized by the United States, a Rossiyskaya Gazeta correspondent spoke with Secretary of the Russian Security Council Nikolai Patrushev.
Nikolai Platonovich, on Tuesday the United States will begin the second "summit for democracy" in a row, as a result of which, as stated by the State Department, Washington will accelerate the so-called democratic renewal of the world.
What do you think about this collection of American vassals?
Nikolai Patrushev: The "summit for democracy" organized by the current White House staff is, of course, being held within the framework of the US presidential race that has actually started. It will be another gathering for a world order in which Washington wants to play a central role forever. And dissidents will be expected to stick the label of "undemocratic states."
Once again, the States will declare themselves the defenders of international law, while they will definitely declare that the world must live by their rules. From the rostrum, deliberately false accusations of war crimes and corruption will be voiced against geopolitical opponents, but, as usual, they will turn a blind eye to real acts of genocide and financial fraud committed with the approval of the White House. Promises will be made to make efforts to feed the hungry and to release the unjustly convicted from prison. However, they will not say that about a fifth of all prisoners in the world are in American prisons, including those sentenced to several life terms. With special zeal, they will defend the rights of sexual minorities and impose a "green agenda" on the whole world, exacerbating the energy crisis in the satellite countries.
Hypocritically speaking about freedom of choice, the United States, which has appointed itself the main dictator of the world, will in fact simply mock countries where sovereignty and democracy are violated by them.
Washington wants to play a central role forever, and dissidents are expected to be labeled "undemocratic states".
Surely they will repeat that the United States is an example of democracy for all mankind, and, naturally, the audience will not want to hear criticism of them?
Nikolai Patrushev: Of course. After all, the main task of the political regime in the modern United States is to mislead its own population in the conditions of a systemic crisis in which they themselves find themselves.
Democracy for them is just a beautiful facade of the state system, which is designed to hide the disregard for the rights of ordinary Americans. Anyone who has carefully studied the legal and socio-political system of the United States is devoid of illusions about freedom of speech and will in this country. What kind of freedom of opinion can we talk about when even the former president of the United States is not allowed to speak in social networks and the press on topics of interest to society, and the media are the mouthpieces of the largest companies and elite groups.
While verbally defending competition, the American authorities have made the country's economy dependent on corruption and lobbying ties that stretch to the White House and the Capitol.
The political process has turned into a clash of corporations that place their people in key positions in government. They also form foreign policy, strive to maintain international dominance, create hotbeds of tension around the world for their billions in earnings on various contracts, the imaginary transparency of which they themselves control.
Proclaiming democratic slogans out of place and out of place, in fact, Washington has long become a champion in violating the sovereignty of states, in the number of wars and conflicts unleashed, and in the brutal and illegal hunting of citizens of other countries.
If the US really decides to move towards democracy and stop humiliating its allies - vassals, we will only welcome this.
At the summit, we will also hear pathetic speeches about how Kyiv, with the support of the "good" NATO, opposes the "universal evil" represented by Russia?
Nikolai Patrushev: I am sure that this topic will become one of the main ones. In fact, NATO countries are a party to the conflict. They made one big military camp out of Ukraine. They send weapons and ammunition to Ukrainian troops, provide them with intelligence, including with the help of a satellite constellation and a significant number of unmanned aerial vehicles. NATO instructors and advisers train the Ukrainian military, and mercenaries fight as part of neo-Nazi battalions. Trying to prolong this military confrontation as long as possible, they do not hide their main goal - the defeat of Russia on the battlefield and its further dismemberment.
In early March, a US strategic bomber performed a simulated nuclear strike on St. Petersburg from a distance of 200 kilometers.
This line of Washington does not change, because the American elite never wanted to reconcile with a strong and independent Russia?
Nikolai Patrushev: Right. Since at least 1945, the source of any escalation of tension on a global scale has been the unbridled desire of the US authorities to maintain their leading role in the world. As they see it, they are now being hindered in this by two great powers: Russia and China. The Russian Federation is not only pursuing an independent policy of strengthening the multipolar world, but in many ways surpasses America in spiritual, moral and military terms. China is the main economic competitor of the United States. Following attempts to "suppress" Russia, Washington will take on the PRC.
Let me remind you that specific measures to destroy the USSR were approved 75 years ago by the well-known directive of the US National Security Council "Tasks for Russia." With the collapse of the Soviet Union, euphoria arose in the West. However, it did not last long, as in Russia they did work on the mistakes. Today, our country can ensure not only internal stability, but also the security of its people from external threats.
In early March, a US strategic bomber practiced a simulated nuclear strike on St. Petersburg from a distance of 200 kilometers over the island of Gotland in the Baltic Sea, deliberately provoking tensions. Have they completely lost their fear?
Nikolai Patrushev: For some reason, American politicians who are held captive by their own propaganda remain confident that in the event of a direct conflict with Russia, the United States is capable of launching a preventive missile strike, after which Russia will no longer be able to respond. This is short-sighted stupidity, and very dangerous.
Forgetting the lessons of history, some in the West are already talking about revenge, which will lead to a military victory over Russia. To this we can say one thing. Russia is patient and does not intimidate anyone with its military advantage. But it has modern unique weapons capable of destroying any enemy, including the United States, in case of a threat to its existence.
However, the West is betting not only on a military defeat, but also on the economic exhaustion of Russia...
Nikolai Patrushev: Obviously. Under pressure from Washington, many Western companies left the Russian market. However, they were seriously mistaken in counting on the collapse of our economy and the growth of protest moods.
In the last decade, the West has been implementing the idea of creating such a technological order in which only it should flourish, while the rest of the world is destined for the periphery of socio-economic development. Therefore, its leaders are furious at Russia's measured response to sanctions pressure. Our country irritates the rulers of the United States and Europe with its economic independence, raw material independence, and scientific thought. The Western countries themselves are wholly and completely dependent on transnational companies and world economic chains. If, for example, sanctions of the same level were imposed against England or France as against our country, these states would quickly plunge into chaos.
At the same time, Russia is not going to close its economy from the world. It will remain open and integrated with the economies of sovereign countries concerned about their own prosperity, including through cooperation with us.
It is obvious that undermining the Russian economy and draining the Russian army are two sides of the same strategy that the West has been trying to implement for more than a century?
Nikolai Patrushev: Of course. One should not naively assume that the methods of economic aggression are softer and more humane. European countries and Japan, for example, have stopped deliveries to Russia of a number of medicines, including vital ones. In this regard, Western pharmaceuticals adequately continues the "traditions" of their predecessors. It is well known that most of these same companies at one time worked on the development of poison gases and gas chambers commissioned by Nazi Germany. That is, they fully supported the ideology of the genocide of the so-called "superfluous" peoples.
Let's remember how the same Anglo-Saxons fed the Nazis in the 1930s, hoping to direct them against the Soviet Union. Having earned financial and geopolitical dividends from the results of World War II, today Washington and London are again indulging Nazism and fascism. Using Ukraine, they are not averse to igniting a pan-European or even global conflict, imagining that they can get away with anything.
One gets the impression that the collective West, in principle, is not going to learn from the past.
Nikolai Patrushev: Western "International" opposed our country more than once. Either under the banners of the Poles and Swedes, then with Napoleonic eagles, under the British flag or under the Nazi swastika. The result is the same - all attempts to crush Russia are futile. Not wanting to learn lessons, Westerners again and again climb on the rampage.
Washington is also not happy with the stability in Asia that has developed as a result of the Second World War and the liberation movements. The US Indo-Pacific strategy is an attempt to create an Asian NATO. The new alliance will be another aggressive bloc directed against China and Russia, and at the same time to pacify the now independent states.
The rearmament of the Australian Navy under the new AUCUS alliance, including the supply of nuclear submarines, military support for Taiwan and South Korea have a long-term goal - establishing US and NATO dominance over Eurasia from its eastern flank.
Even during the Cold War, the Pentagon, at the slightest danger from the USSR, was ready to turn Europe into a radioactive desert
Washington pushed Tokyo to a new militarization. The Japan Self-Defense Forces are becoming a full-fledged army capable of conducting offensive operations. This has already been legally confirmed by Japanese law, which in fact is a gross violation of one of the most important outcomes of the Second World War. Focusing on strike weapons, Prime Minister Kishida announced that his country was acquiring 400 Tomahawk cruise missiles from the United States.
In addition to arming Japan, Washington is trying to revive the spirit of Japanese militarism, which, it would seem, was eradicated in 1945. It seems that the inhabitants of the island state again want to make kamikaze, dying for the interests of others. The Westerners do not want to remember and deliberately keep silent about how at the beginning of the 20th century they used their aggressiveness against the Soviet Union and China, and as a result, the Japanese turned their weapons against the Americans, the British and their allies.
At the same time, American and European politicians today not only "forget" about inconvenient facts from the past, but also deliberately rewrite history, even contrary to common sense. This can be seen in the way the campaign for the rehabilitation of Nazism has been hypocritically launched. They even invented that only Ukrainians liberated Europe from the Nazis. The myth of the Holodomor as an act of genocide is being promoted.
Nikolai Patrushev: Those who know history and do not try to falsify it are well aware that in the 1920s and 1930s the situation with access to food was worse in the RSFSR than in Ukraine. This is documented, there are many facts. One example is the biography of the Hero of the Soviet Union Grigory Ivanovich Boyarinov. His centenary was celebrated at the end of last year. A well-known intelligence officer, a participant in the Great Patriotic War, many special operations, died while leading the assault on Amin's palace in Afghanistan. He was born in 1922 in the Smolensk region, his father was the chairman of the collective farm. However, in the 1930s, his family moved to Ukraine, as it was easier to feed and survive there.
Incidentally, the Americans today adopted the famine slogans on a global scale, accusing our country of provoking the global food crisis. I have no doubt that during the summit for democracy this topic will again be exaggerated. At the same time, the Westerners themselves block the supply of Russian grain and fertilizers abroad, and they simply rob Ukrainian bins and resell them at exorbitant prices to the poorest countries on extortionate terms, as their colonial ancestors did.
Sometimes it seems that the West is digging a hole for itself by its actions. Watching what is happening in the European Union, there is a strong feeling that a very vague future awaits it.
Nikolai Patrushev: The collapse of the European Union is not far off. Of course, the Europeans will not tolerate this supranational superstructure, which not only does not justify itself, but also pushes the Old World into open conflict with our country. The United States is ready to fight Russia not only to the last Ukrainian, but also to the last European. Even during the Cold War, the Pentagon, at the slightest danger from the USSR, was ready to turn Europe into a radioactive desert. It is unlikely that something has changed in the minds of American strategists.
And how does this fit in with the fact that the United States and Europe are in words the main allies?
Nikolai Patrushev: The paradox lies in the fact that Washington is directly interested in the collapse of the European Union in order to eliminate its economic competitor, to prevent Europe from flourishing through cooperation with Russia. The Americans have already done a lot to ensure that the Old World loses the status of a powerful economic player. In many respects, this is precisely why Washington has been spinning the story of anti-Russian sanctions. We are witnessing a radical change in the economic model of the EU based on a combination of cheap energy resources from Russia and advanced European technologies.
The implementation of joint plans with Washington to reduce raw material and technological dependence on Beijing will deal no less a blow to Europe. In addition, the EU is in a migration impasse. Many of the migrants not only do not want to integrate into the European family, but also create their own caliphates, forcing local authorities and the population to live according to their laws. Together with them, representatives of criminal groups and militants go to Europe. The perpetrators of the high-profile terrorist attacks of recent years in London, Brussels and Paris were EU citizens - immigrants from national enclaves already existing in Europe. If we recall that Al-Qaeda, ISIS (international terrorist organizations, banned in the Russian Federation) and other terrorist organizations were created at one time by the United States, and terrorists in Syria and Iraq are trained by CIA instructors, then it is possible that that these same people are behind the preparation of terrorist attacks in Europe. Their goal is to destabilize the situation on the continent, the future of which the US is indifferent to.
The US dominates Europe, ignoring the fact that the leading role on the continent has historically been assigned to Russia. In the XIX century - the Russian Empire, in the XX century - the Soviet Union. So it will be in the 21st century.
Are the United States confident in their own strength? Sunset, in their opinion, can threaten everyone, but not them? In my opinion, the risks of disintegration may also threaten the States.
Nikolay Patrushev: The United States has acquired the status of a great power by economic achievements based on cynical actions to seize territories, resources, exploit peoples and profit from the military misfortunes of other states. At the same time, they remained a patchwork quilt, which can easily disperse at the seams. Let's say, as it was originally, divided into North and South. Moreover, no one can exclude that the South will move towards Mexico, whose lands the Americans seized in 1848. And this is more than two million square kilometers. By the way, Latin American leaders do not hide the fact that awareness of the destructive role of the United States has become widespread. The establishment of the Guantanamo base is considered a direct theft of Cuban sovereignty. And this is just one of many examples of systematic encroachments on the independence of Latin American countries. There is no doubt.
In addition, there are many internal contradictions in the United States. There is no unity even in the American elite itself.
Nikolai Patrushev: Right. The antagonism between Republicans and Democrats is only getting worse. Contradictions are growing between various financial structures and transnational corporations that care only about their capitalization, and not about the well-being of America. The US elites who imagined themselves to be untouchable have never associated themselves with the American people.
Their projects such as BLM, that is, "Black Lives Matter", and the general planting of transgender theories are aimed at the spiritual degradation of the population, which is already in a state of apathy. The individualism and consumerism nurtured in Americans will play a cruel joke on their country. Ordinary citizens will not lift a finger for the sake of preserving the integrity of America, realizing that they are not needed by their authorities. Not knowing what they are doing, the US authorities are destroying themselves step by step.
America's problem is that it has played too much geopolitical games, forgetting about its own pressing problems. While the United States in its military biological laboratories invent new viruses to destroy the peoples of objectionable countries, the once clean American cities are drowning in mud and garbage.
Built at the expense of the printing press, the American financial pyramid gives tangible failures over and over again. The model of uncontrolled emission, in which any economic problems are literally flooded with money, cannot work forever. With an external debt of more than $31.5 trillion, the United States is increasingly moving towards default. The fall in the level of confidence in the dollar, not backed by real goods, as well as the system of inflated speculative transactions in the stock market, will lead the States to a powerful financial crisis.
No matter how pathetic it may sound, the Russians not only do not want war, but they do not want the death of either the United States or any other country.
Nikolai Patrushev: I absolutely agree. Our centuries-old culture is based on spirituality, compassion and mercy. Russia is a historical defender of the sovereignty and statehood of any peoples who turned to her for help. She saved the United States at least twice - during the Revolutionary War and the Civil War. But I believe that this time helping the United States to maintain its integrity is inappropriate.
