The following episode was recorded on February 3, 2022. Olga and I had been monitoring the build up of Russian forces on the border with Ukraine daily at this point, as well as checking feeds for official statements and diplomatic measures from the United States and European authorities.

It was clear from April 2021 that Putin and the leadership had decided to place armaments on the border with Ukraine, and this trend continued right through into the winter 2021/22. Most analysts were positing that Russia was bluffing- it wanted to extert diplomatic leverage over Ukraine. The sheer amount of deliveries of armaments and military personnel pointed to another conclusion: Russia was getting ready for its full scale re-invasion of Ukraine.
