May 27: Note about E-Stories
Note about E-Stories
To put the news diary together, I consult a variety of publications, Telegram channels, official statements on social media or posts that are interesting to read. I also call up colleagues to clarify any doubts I may have about a story or information. Sometimes I include my own commentary. E-Stories brings you info about what is happening on the ground in Ukraine and in the occupied territories, Russian domestic developments, the international response to the war, some humanitarian stories, and the current trends in information warfare.
A LOT of information gets cut out for a variety of reasons. For example, I don’t publish Russian or Ukrainian daily casualty numbers even if they are reported by official sources. It’s simply not possible to know for sure how many soldiers have been wounded or killed in action on both sides because the battlefield is closed off to independent observers. I also shutter to think what the Russian forces are doing with those killed in the occupied territories. We’ll know more when the Russians are defeated and the Ukrainian forces take full control.
Occasionally I will include specific troop movements if they point to where we should be focusing our attention, or signal a significant escalation. There are publications dedicated to the minutae of troop movements on the line of contact, staging activities, armaments, and escalation indicators: I reccomend CDS Daily Brief and the Institute for the Study of War.
Naryshkin, SVR chief: “Western totalitarian-liberal regimes, led by the US, have reached the point of invading human nature itself. They want to destroy everything human, to turn a free being into a fully controlled transhumanist chimera.
Hearsay and rumours are not published until they are confirmed by official sources, OSINT, or dedicated analysts. A case in point was the Belgorod attacks. They were newsworthy to be sure, but taken with a grain of salt since the military units involved may have been part of an operation for Ukraine or Russia.
Please be aware that the Russian forces shell Ukrainian cities and settlements every single day. I usually try to give an overall figure for these disgusting attacks. They are mostly aimed at civilian targets: private homes, schools, hospitals, cultural centres, churches, and businesses to terrorise the Ukrainian population, and erode their resilience.
Ukrainian resistance is absolutely remarkable but Ukrainians are also experiencing extreme levels of trauma, which will be addressed once they can. They will have a nation to regenerate in every aspect. Right now they’re thinking of their survival.
My sincere thanks to everyone reading E-Stories.
