As published in Meduza Oct 18 & some posts from Julia Davis
Who is Kirill Rogov
Kirill Rogov is a Russian political scientist and founder of the Re: Russia analytical center, who gave an extended Russian-language interview about Putin’s crumbling image, ferment in the upper rungs of power, and what future scenarios are possible for Russia under these conditions. This article is a condensed version of Rogov’s analysis.
I’ve included some of Julia Davis’s latest daily digests of Russian propagandist video clips, and one of Rogov’s articles from 2019 on his view of Putin’s hold on power. Julia’s digest has been censored on YouTube, part of an overall effort across many social media platforms to curtail pro-Ukrainian dissenting voices.
This article is one assessment, and there are others. I’m monitoring the Ukrainian counter-offensive, the Russian response, and the messaging and news coming out from both Ukraine and Russia. Getting a clear picture of what is happening in Russia, and Moscow in particular, can be challenging. What is absolutely clear is that Russian forces are in a precarious position at various locations at the front, and there is a change in register and narration being disseminated through most information vectors.
