Trolling Russia
I picked some memes and posts for a laugh. The Ukrainians have a great sense of humour, and know how to get under the Russians’ skin. The first up isn’t really a meme or funny post but it gives you an idea where the Ukrainians were going from day one.

The Russians tried to wine and dine us…
The now infamous video that circulated on social media enticing the world’s population to come to Russia. When I first saw it, owing to the absurdity of the video images and the voiceover, I thought it must have been a Ukrainian trolling video or simply a joke. Have a watch.
It wasn’t but Twitter responded quickly with its own version of the Russian promo. I haven’t posted the other versions (there are a few)—you can scan Twitter for them.
TASS reported that the Black Sea Fleet Headquarters in Sevastopol, Crimea, had been attacked by Ukrainian drones. And Twitter responded just as quickly. The Darth Putin account is gold by the way. Head over there for some very whitty and biting comments.
Tourist visas…
Kim is still pretty much up there on the crazy scale, but he’s right.
We Moskva’t forget…
Smoking can kill you…
Context: the Ukrainian forces hit various locations in Crimea, knocking out an airport and the Headquarters of the Black Sea Fleet, sending Russian vacationers scurrying from the beach. The Russians later falsely claimed that someone had been smoking near one of the ammo depots, and this was the cause of the explosions. Russian propaganda at its worse, frankly.
The King of Gas
Context: I’ve posted quite a few articles and videos on Russia’s gas and oil blackmail in Europe. For a forensic review of Russia’s energy blackmail in Europe, please see Dr Benjamin L Schmitt’s timeline.
This particular meme came out when the Russians closed down NS1.
Faulty windows…
If it’s not dodgy tea…it’s a faulty window.
Everyone loves Putin…
President Zelensky and his communications team have been highly successful in getting the international community on board. He’s been able to balance determination and strength with a knack of tearing Putin down a notch or two.
It’s not a retreat…no one panic!
The Ukrainian counter-offensives in Kharkiv and Kherson oblasts have held our attention for over a week now, and we’re feeling joy at the sight of every town and village which have been liberated from the Russian occupation forces.
The pace of the Ukrainian action is mind-blowing, and has left Russian authorities and propagandists speechless or having to devise implausible excuses creating even more ridicule.
This post was put up by Josh Manning and I thought it was perfect.
When you’ve been Ukrained…this is what happens…
And everyone begins to wonder…
For years, most analysts spoke of the might of the Russian armed forces. On paper, they did seem powerful. In practice, they’re dysfunctional.
Chapeau to Olga Lautman, who for had told me a very long time ago that the Russian forces were hindered by corruption and antiquated strategic and operational concepts. She had always said they have lots of hardware, but that’s about it. Ukraine will be successful- no question about it.
We doubted Ukraine- Ukrainians didn’t doubt themselves. (see first post)
Putin shouldn’t give up hope…there are solutions…
The golden question: What will become of Putin and his war party?
They need to be held accountable for the pain and horror they have caused in Ukraine. The souls that were tortured and then buried in mass graves in Bucha, or those who have been mixed in the cement to rebuild the Mariupol theatre, will forever haunt us. Ukraine will need to rebuild its nation, and we must step in and provide the financial aid to do so. Ukrainians have paid for this war in blood- we have not.
